Round 6 of the 2019 State League season in in the books. With the results from the past weekend seeing the ladders in all 3 grades becoming congested. With just 4 points separating 1st to 3rd in all grades.

A Grade

The first match of the round saw Arista take on North, with Arista coming in off of a victory last time out, whilst North came in after the bye. In a matchup that saw 50 goals scored, it was North who came out on top, continuing their unbeaten start to the season. Recording a 29-21 victory. For North the top scorers were Daniel and Megan Papalia who both recorded a match high 8 goals. For Arista it was Nik Bungey and Jess Phillips with 5 goals apiece in the defeat.

The second game of the round saw Glenelg playing against Boomers. With Glenelg coming in off a victory, whilst Boomers came in off a defeat. The matchup saw the game go goal for goal early, before Glenelg were able to pull away in the second quarter. Boomers had periods of play where they looked to claw the margin back. However Glenelg were able to get the momentum back each time as they went on to record a 23-12 victory. For Glenelg Emily Hutchesson continued her hot start to the year with a 9 goal haul. For Boomers Michael Spencer scored 5 in the defeat.

B Grade

The first match of the round saw North take on Arista. With North coming in off of the bye, whilst Arista came in off a defeat last time out. In a match that could have seen Arista close the gap on North on the table, it was North who were able to come out on top recording a 17-13 victory. The top scorer for North was Pau Cree with 4 goals in the win. Whilst for Arista is was Sharni Lans and Chris Hutchesson with 3 goals apiece in the defeat.

The second game of the round saw Boomers take on Glenelg. With both teams coming in off a victory last time out and Glenelg looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season. In a high scoring thriller, with 40 goals scored in the game, it ended in a remarkable 20-20 draw, with Glenelg scoring late, before a Boomers goal in the final stages of the game seeing the final siren go with the scores level. The top scorer for the match was Boomers’ Peter Corcoran with 9 goals, whilst for Glenelg it was Claire Bowler and Nick Miller with 5 goals apiece.

C Grade

The first match of the round saw the Cubs take on Boomers, with both teams coming into the round off of victories. The match started with Boomers on top early, scoring the first couple of goals. Before the Cubs hit back with a couple of their own. The game then went back into the Boomers favour in the second half as some long range shooting saw Boomers win, 15-7. To take the Cubs spot in the top two after round six. The top scorers for the match were Boomers pair Breanna Smith and Stefan Scragg with 5 goals apiece. Whilst for the Cubs Claire Bowler scored 4 in the defeat.

The second game of the round saw Glenelg take on Arista, with both teams coming in off defeats last time out. This matchup saw a low scoring, tight affair with a combined 14 goals for the match, resulting in Arista claiming a 8-6 victory to maintain their place on top of the table after round 6. The top scorer for the match was Glenelg’s Tim Miller with 4 goals in the defeat. Whilst for Arista it was Antony Marshall with 3 goals in the win.

The A grade matchups for next weekend sees North take on Boomers, the second game sees Arista play Flinders. B Grade sees the same matchups. Whilst Glenelg has the bye in both A and B Grade. In C Grade the Cubs take on Arista, whilst Boomers take on Glenelg.
