As many of you may be aware, Korfball Development in South Australia is reliant on volunteers assisting with clinics, tournaments and other development activities. There are three such development events upcoming  in the near future which require helpers. Police checks are required, however, if you do not have a current police check, KSA can authorise a free volunteer check. Small reimbursements for your time are available in most cases.

The upcoming events requiring assistance are:

  • High School State Championships
    • An annual event held at Priceline Stadium. This year it is scheduled for Thursday August 25th, from 9am to 3pm.
    • Volunteers are required for refereeing, setup and pack up and general admin throughout the day. Some schools also appreciate some simple coaching help.
    • No experience necessary, qualified referees would be appreciated, but not essential. Anyone available for an hour or more would be greatly appreciated.
  • Jamestown Regional Tournament
    • Thursday 1st September.
    • Eight local schools will be involved.
    • Three or four referees are required for the whole day tournament, who will also assist with coaching in between reffing.
    • The team of volunteers will carpool on the Wednesday evening at a time suitable for everyone, returning on Thursday evening.  Accommodation will hopefully be at the Jamestown caravan park in a cabin.
    • All transport, accommodation and meals will be covered by Korfball SA, and volunteers will receive a small reimbursement for their time.
    • No reffing or coaching qualifications required, but a good understanding of the rules and being able to use your whistle to keep control of the games is essential.
  • Mary McKillop College at Kensington
    • A series of 4 clinics for their Year 11 students.
    • Ideally the same person will run all 4 sessions, to establish good continuity and to develop a rapport with the students. If the same person cannot run all 4, then we will require up to 4 volunteers for this series.
    • Sessions will be on Monday mornings, 10.45am to 12.05pm on August 22nd & 29th and September 5th & 12th.
    • Volunteers will receive a small reimbursement of costs.

Information on all of these sessions can be found on the links above, or on the brand new Education page. Additionally, any upcoming sessions will be added to the calendar on that page, so if you’re available, check out the page for clinics you may be able to assist at.

If you are available to assist at the above sessions, at any future sessions, or just want to make it known you’re available to be asked to assist, please contact us, or email the Development Officer directly.
