Beach Korfball 2019 has wrapped up, with great fun had by all involved over the five weeks of matches. This year saw six teams competing, with players ranging from International level to first-timers, and everything in between. It’s great to see competitions like this be so welcoming, it makes it very easy to introduce new players to our wonderful sport.

The competition was played in great spirits throughout, but this doesn’t mean that games weren’t hard fought. The speed of the game, combined with the introduction of halves this year, did mean some heavy legs at times, resulting in goals sometimes being hard to come by. When they flowed though, they normally flowed for both teams, with the introduction of the 2 point zones opening up new ways to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

At the end of the five weeks, it was Slippery Sharks taking overall honours, winning a very handy 13 of their 15 games. Pretty Princesses weren’t far behind will 11 wins and 2 draws, while Recreational Hazards rounded out the top three in a great effort for a (mostly) quite young team. This marks the second year in a row the Slippery Sharks have taken out the competition, well done. The full table, as well as the results, can be found on the Beach Korfball competition page.

Thank you to all teams and players, who made this competition such a success. Your great attitudes, competitive spirits and willingness to help – both in set-up and with new players – made the entire competition a whole lot of fun. Congratulations again to Slippery Sharks, and we hope to see everyone out there again next year as we aim to go bigger and better!
