Korfball South Australia is pleased to today announce the 2017 Beach Korf Competition. As has been the case in the last few years, the competition will be held on Glenelg beach on Friday evenings, beginning mid January. More information, including a map of the precise location, can be found on the event page, which will be updated as planning progresses.
Team nomination is $40, which is payable on the first night. There are no other costs associated with this competition. As has been the case previously, this is not a club-based competition, and players are encouraged to form teams with players from other clubs, and from outside the existing korfball player pool. Each team is required to nominate using the form below. The uniform requirements are quite loose, with only a shirt in the colour assigned (based on preferences) being the mandated uniform. Only four players are required to be named, although others may be named if desired. Players other than those named may also play, either as fill-ins or as regular players, however we want to ensure all teams have at least four players (two male and two female). The competition may be split into two divisions, based on the number of teams entered. Please indicate your preferred division on the form below.
Each team will be required to provide a referee at least once a week. This referee does not have to be a member of your team, nor does it have to be the same person every week. Additionally, there is no requirement for the referee to hold a current refereeing certificate from Korfball Australia. All we ask from referees is they have a reasonable knowledge of korfball, and familiarise themselves with the specific Beach Korfball rules (found here) prior to refereeing.
Once nominations are closed, a timetable will be released, and will be posted on the Beach Korfball Competition Page, as well as emailed to all team contacts. Keep your eyes peeled for that in early January. Nomination forms are due by no later than January 6.
