Korfball SA would like to provide the following update on the proposed resumption of Korfball for the 2020 KSA State League season.

As previously announced we did not expect to resume Korfball anytime prior to the June long weekend (6th-8th June).  The South Australian Government have recently released guidelines that indicate that June 8th is the likely date that sports, such as ours, can resume indoor and contact based training activities.  Therefore, we recommend that SA based clubs take the initiative to contact their existing training venues to see whether they can be granted access from that date.

Korfball SA are tentatively looking at commencing our season from Sunday 28th June running through until a proposed Grand Final date of 25th October.  Our current League Managers are working hard to find suitable venues for these extended dates.  We ask clubs to consider the number of teams they would like to enter for these proposed dates.

All of this is subject to SA Government’s approval of a move to the final stage of a return to sport which is the allowance of full indoor competition, albeit with probable restrictions on spectators and of course appropriate hygiene measures in place.

It is still our goal, if we cannot resume on the 28th, to run a 2020 State League season, even if it means a condensed season, and we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Finally we encourage all Korfballers to grab a ball, grab a post and grab 9 friends (virtual grabbing only at this stage) and find yourself a safe outdoor space and get shooting, avoiding all contact based drills.

Our League Managers will be in contact with clubs about team nominations.
