Round 11 of the 2019 State League season is in the books. With a new leader in B grade and a former ladder leader dropping out of a finals position after defeat in their last matchup.

A Grade

The first matchup of the round saw a top of the table clash between North and Arista. With North coming in off the bye and Arista a victory. It was Arista who started out stronger. As they went into half time ahead, looking like they could be the first team to beat North this season. However it wasn’t to be as North would step up to the challenge and storm home in the second half. To record a 25-17 victory to solidify their place on top of the table. The top scorer for the match was North’s Brandon Nagy with 6 goals in the victory. For Arista Nik Bungey top scored with 5 goals.

The second matchup saw Boomers take on Glenelg. With Boomers sitting in fourth coming into the round off a defeat. Whilst Glenelg, in third spot, came in off a victory last time out. With these sides meeting for the third time this season. Glenelg came in with all the confidence having won the past two encounters, pushing the margin out each time. It was no different in this meeting as Boomers kept close for the opening 12 minutes before Glenelg got going, claiming a 28-13 victory to maintain pressure on second placed Arista. The top scorer for the matchup was Glenelg’s Patrick Branford with 9 goals. Whilst for Boomers Bethan Channing and Josh Prasad both scored 3 goals apiece.

B Grade

The first matchup of the round saw Arista take on North. With Arista coming in off a defeat, while North came in off the bye. With these sides sitting third and fourth on the ladder. A win for North would have seen a small gap open up. Whilst a win for Arista would see the gap close to one-point on the ladder. In the end we saw a thriller as the final score read 16-15 in favour of Arista, who remain in fourth place but just one point behind North in third spot. The top scorer for the match was North’s Kyla Norfolk with 6 goals in the defeat. For Arista they had four different players reach the three goal mark, with Chris Hutchesson, Megan Jones, Lauren Bungey and James Holland.

The second matchup saw a top of the table clash between Glenelg and Boomers, with there last meeting a 20-20 draw. This time around there was a more defensive approach from the two sides. With 14 goals scored in the first half. Before Glenelg were able to gain some separation in the second half to record a 14-10 victory to claim top spot back from Boomers. The top scorer for the match was shared with Glenelg’s Claire Bowler and Boomers Ryan Gartner both with 4 goals each.

C Grade

The first matchup of the round saw the Glenelg derby, between the Tigers and Cubs. With both sides coming into the game off defeats. In a low scoring tight affair the Cubs were able to claim another victory over the Tigers, winning 7-4 to move into second place on the ladder. The top score for the match was the Cubs’ Rhys Dart with 3 goals, whilst for the Tigers Linton Coombes top scored with 2 goals.

The second matchup saw a top of the table clash between Arista and Boomers, with both teams recording victories last time out. In a tight first half, Boomers were able to take a small lead into the break. Before controlling the second half to run out 12-7 victors. The top scorers for the match were Boomers pair Breanna Smith and Daniel Rattus with 3 goals apiece. Whilst for Arista it was all individual goal scorers.

Next Weekend sees Glenelg with the bye in A and B grades. Whilst Boomers take on North and Flinders take on Arista in both A and B Grades. In C Grade We see another top of the table clash as Boomers take on the Cubs and the second matchup sees Arista take on the Tigers. With all matches at Titanium Security Arena.
