The traditional korfball season is rapidly approaching, and with this in mind, it’s time to announce some of the developments that Korfball South Australia have been working on over the Summer, as well as information on the upcoming State League season.

Season Dates

The season this year is due to start a little later, on 22nd April, with finals provisionally slated for early September, with the final schedule dependent on the yet-to-be finalised team nominations. These dates make for a slightly shorter, but hopefully more exciting, season. A complete schedule will be sent out to clubs a minimum of a week before the first round, and as always, full schedules will be available on the State League page and the team specific pages as soon as they’re available.

Competition Venue

Korfball SA is excited to announce that we have secured a permanent booking for the 2018 State League season at Titanium Security Arena in Findon. Also previously known as the Powerhouse and the Dome, this facility is arguably the best indoor arena in the State, and being able to play there is a huge plus for the sport. We look forward to a long and propserous relationship with Titanium Security Arena, and already the signs are positive.

As we have been able to secure an ongoing booking for our Sunday competition, resolving the court availability issues at our previous venue, all grades will now be playing on Sunday afternoons. This means there will be no trial of a weeknight A Grade competition, as was proposed earlier in the year. The option of revisiting the trial in the future remains on the table, as all options for the competition are continuously explored.

Set-up and pack up

This season we are offering a set up/pack down tender if clubs or individuals would like to help out the korfball community, and be rewarded for it. For those interested, we have a Duty List and a Tender Submission Form, which can be emailed to admin@sa.korfball.org.au upon completion.

If we don’t receive any tenders, it will continue to be the clubs responsibilities to set-up and pack down courts, albeit with clearer guidelines for this season.

We feel these changes will improve the State League competition, and hopefully help it to grow. We wish you all the best, and a successful season of Korfball.
