The Korfball South Australia State League Semi Finals have now wrapped up and the scores from both matches are now online. Scores can be accessed from the State League page, or below in the article.

With the C Grade having a smaller competition this year, and the top two teams earning direct entry to the Grand Final, there were just the two Semi Finals held this year. However, what was lacking in quantity was more than made up for in quality.

B Grade was the first game of the day, and saw Boomers take on Arista. Boomers, led by some hugely experienced players, started incredibly strongly, and shot out to a 6 goal lead very quickly, and threatened to make the match an absolute boil-over. However, after an early time-out, Arista improved their defense and managed to stabilize the margin, and prevented Boomers pulling too far ahead. Boomers went into the half time break with a 10 goal margin. The second half started much the way the first finished, with the margin staying fairly stable. However, a late burst of 5 unanswered goals by Arista with around 10 minutes remaining threatened to push Boomers, before they were able to stabilise and hit back with a few late goals, walking away with the win, 23-15. Peter Corcoran was the standout scorer for Boomers, as has been the case for many years now, with a more than handy 7 goals. At Arista, an even performance saw three players top score, Cam McLean, Chris Hutchesson and Megan Jones, each with 3 goals. Boomers will now move on to play Flinders in the Grand Final.

The A Grade match rounded out the day, and what a match it was. Both teams refused to give an inch all match, and the margin was rarely more than two goals either way. Excellent shooting at both ends of the court ensured that the match was a spectacle. With so much on the line, the match got a little heated at times, with the referee speaking to a number of players as the match built towards a crescendo. However, after threatening to go to extra time for most of the match, North were finally able to snatch the win, 22-21. Daniel Papalia was the top scorer for the victors with 7 goals, while Jamie Gartner took the honours for Boomers, with 6 of his own. North will now take on Arista in the Grand Final in what is bound to be another fantastic match.
