Summer League Moves Indoors

Due to wet conditions the outdoor summer social competition for Friday 9th December is moving to Flinders University Sturt Gym. 7pm start, all welcome. Cost $5

The Australian U/23 Development Squad are running Summer Korfball League at Marion Sports and Community Club, 262 Sturt Road Marion.
Teams, groups or individuals are invited to come along and play in the social, fun atmosphere!
Meals and drinks are available at reasonable prices at Club Marion.
Cost is $5 per player.
Games will consist of 2 x 20 minute halves, and will begin at 7pm & 8pm under lights. Teams are not allowed to field more than 4 A grade players on a court at a time.
First games are tonight, Friday the 18th of November.

Summer League and Regionals Training

Starts This Friday (8th Feb), only 4 teams nominated so 1 court will operate from 7-8 and 8-9. Timetable is here.
As convenor of the Summer League, Sikopi invites all participants to after match drinks at the Avoca Hotel, South Rd at Edwardstown..

In the 8pm timeslot, State Coach, Jeremy Harris will be running a training session for the New Zealand trip. Even if you have no intention of going, it is strongly encouraged that you show up for trainings to both develop your own game and assist those who are going (or are thinking about it) to be well prepared.
For anyone still contemplating NZ, there will be a fully sanctioned International match against New Zealand and the way numbers are looking at the moment, if you travel, you’ll also be officially representing Australia!!

A couple of upcoming events in the coaching scene.
Firstly a Seminar by ex-Australian Cricket Coach, John Buchanan at SASI, on Monday 25th Feb entitled “Creating a culture of success”. To register for this event, fill out the pdf application form available here.

Secondly, Applications for the Wendy Ey Coaching Scholarships for Women are due by February 29, information and application form can be downloaded as a pdf here.
(No news yet on when the Coaching Scholarships for Men Applications will be due!!)

and finally, the ‘Be Active” State Coaching and Officiating Centre Calendar of events has been released, Jan-June and Jul-Dec

Regionals Training

The first training for the South Australian Open Squads will be held this Sunday between 2 and 3:30 at Marion Rec Centre.
The purpose of this squad will be to select players to represent South Australia in the Oceania Regional Championship to be held in Auckland, New Zealand, March 8-9 2008. We are hoping to send 2 Open teams so the more people at training the merrier.
I appreciate this will be at short notice, so if you can’t make it but you are interested in going please email me at regionals@sa.korfball.org.au.

Regionals Training

Jeremy Harris has been accepted as State Coach for the upcoming March 2008 Asia-Oceania Regional Championships to be held in Auckland, NZ.He plans to run the first training and selection session at SASI (to be confirmed) on the morning of Saturday 8 December (further detail will be forthcoming).
If you’re interested in travelling to NZ, KSA is still looking for team managers, coaches, referees and players. It is hoped there will be coaching master classes, referee development as well as a heap of socialising.
